Christmas is Coming: A Season of Hope & Solidarity

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
– John 1:5
After two deeply painful Christmas seasons — marked by fear, grief, and the shadow of war since October 7, 2023 — Bethlehem is finally breathing again. As November unfolds, the city begins to glow. Slowly, softly, the spirit of Christmas is gently returning to the place where hope first became flesh. Tree lightings, children’s carols, and Christmas bazaars are making a quiet but powerful comeback, as families and communities rediscover the warmth of tradition and anticipation.
The Christmas tree is being prepared, the Nativity Square is dressing itself in lights, and the first bazaars have opened their doors. Schools are practicing Christmas hymns, children’s events are filling up again, and families have begun walking through the Old City with anticipation in their eyes. Step by step, hope makes its way back into our daily rhythm.
Yet Bethlehem still yearns for something essential: the return of visitors, pilgrims, and tourists who bring life, opportunity, and stability to thousands of families. The Bethlehem Community and the West Bank in General as well as Gaza continues to carry the economic weight of years of hardship, and as Christmas approaches, the need for solidarity feels more urgent than ever.
This is the season when Bethlehem becomes the beating heart of the world — a reminder that peace, compassion, and generosity began here. And as we welcome the season, we invite our community of friends to prepare their hearts as well. In the coming days, “Holy Land Trust will launch the From Trauma to Hope – Christmas Giving Campaign, dedicated this year to standing with the vulnerable and strengthening resilience across our communities.”
Our message will be simple:
This Christmas, let love be action. Let hope be shared. Let giving become a light for families who need it most.
Looking Ahead
This is the time we need you more than ever.
As we enter this sacred season, we invite you to stay close to us — follow our newsletters, share them with your friends and community, and encourage those around you to stand with Bethlehem. Your voice, your solidarity, and your generosity can truly transform lives.
Our Christmas “Rock N Carol” concert on December 12th — celebrating joy and togetherness, and all funds dedicated to supporting families through food coupons.
Our solidarity work his season with the community of Umm al-Kheir , standing with them as they overcome injustice, poverty, and limited resources. a small, close-knit Bedouin village located in the South Hebron Hills. Known for its deep sense of hospitality, resilience, and strong family bonds, Umm al-Kheir continues to live under extremely challenging conditions. The community faces ongoing restrictions on basic infrastructure, limited access to essential resources, and chronic poverty that affects every aspect of daily life. As winter approaches, these pressures grow heavier — families struggle with inadequate shelter, scarce heating resources, and the rising cost of food and daily necessities.
Our commitment to support the Families in Bethlehem , especially those struggling with school fees, basic needs, and the economic challenges caused by diminished tourism.
This season reminds us that light grows brightest when shared.
Thank you for walking with us, for keeping Bethlehem in your heart, and for helping us transform compassion into action.
With hope and gratitude.

As part of the second edition of our “Monthly Gathering | لمة الشهر” — and in recognition of Palestinian Independence Day on November 15 and the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People on November 29 — Holy Land Trust organized a geopolitical awareness tour in Bethlehem. The tour targeted youth aged 15–17, opening a window onto the complex and painful realities surrounding their daily lives.

Our journey introduced the group to key locations shaping the geopolitical landscape of Bethlehem:
Bilal ibn Rabah Mosque / Northern Entrance
Rachel’s Tomb Checkpoint
Aida Refugee Camp
Alrowwad Cultural & Arts Society
Cremisan Valley
Through each stop, the youth witnessed the impact of settlement expansion, land confiscation, and restrictions on movement — not as abstract concepts, but as lived experiences.

“Monthly Gathering | لمة الشهر” is more than an excursion; it is a space for connection, learning, and identity formation. It brings young Palestinians together to reflect, question, and engage with the realities of their homeland. It builds rootedness. It strengthens belonging. And it empowers youth to become active voices for justice, rights, and dignity.

As Bethlehem slowly awakens to the beauty of Christmas — tree lightings, children’s laughter, music returning to our streets — we invite you to walk with us into a season of compassion and solidarity. In the coming weeks, Holy Land Trust will share a series of seven heartfelt letters, each reflecting a moment of the season: Thanksgiving, Giving Tuesday, Advent, and finally Christmas and the year’s end.
These letters will bring you closer to the communities we serve, the challenges they face, and the hope your support can bring. From keeping families warm in the South Hebron Hills to supporting Christian families in Bethlehem who continue to struggle due to the decline in tourism, each message will open a small window into the lives your generosity can touch.
This is our gentle invitation to stay with us, read with us, and prepare your heart for a season of giving.
As we begin this journey toward Christmas, your presence, your compassion, and your kindness become part of the hope we pass forward.
