Rising from Trauma to Hope: An Easter Message

” The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. “
– John 1:5
As Easter approaches, it invites a deeper reflection on what resurrection truly means within our reality. It is not only a moment of renewal, but a continuous, lived experience — one that unfolds in the daily lives of individuals and communities navigating uncertainty, loss, and ongoing challenges. In Palestine, resurrection is not merely symbolic — it is lived every day. It is the conscious choice to rise, again and again, in the face of uncertainty, loss, and ongoing pressure. In this reality, resurrection becomes a powerful expression of resilience: the ongoing ability to stand up, persist, and move forward despite the weight of circumstances. In this context, resurrection becomes a powerful expression of resilience: the ability to rise, again and again, despite the weight of circumstances.
Across communities, the impact of prolonged hardship is evident—not only on livelihoods, but on the emotional and social fabric of daily life. Yet within these realities, there is also a quiet, persistent strength. It is found in individuals and families who continue to care for one another, remain rooted in their land, and move forward with dignity. It is reflected in the courage to keep showing up, to support one another, and to seek meaning beyond adversity. This strength is not abstract; it is grounded in lived experiences, in voices that refuse to be silenced, and in a steady determination to continue forward with dignity.
At Holy Land Trust, this understanding is at the core of the work. Through trauma-informed approaches, safe and inclusive spaces are created where individuals — especially women and youth — can express, reflect, and reconnect with themselves and their communities. Through dialogue, storytelling, and creative engagement, participants begin a process of inner transformation—reclaiming their voices, rebuilding confidence, and restoring a sense of agency. Here, empowerment is not just a concept, but a lived process that nurtures leadership and opens pathways for meaningful participation. This is where resurrection begins.
At the community level, this process expands into action. Through direct support, home rebuilding, and resilience initiatives, families are supported to remain on their land and rebuild their lives with dignity and stability. As individuals grow in confidence and clarity, they begin to articulate their realities and share their stories both locally and globally, contributing to a broader call for justice and human dignity. In this way, resurrection becomes collective—when personal transformation evolves into shared action, and lived experiences shape a more just and inclusive future.
The journey from trauma to hope is neither simple nor immediate. It requires space, trust, and sustained support. Yet it is within this journey that the true meaning of resurrection is realized — not as a distant promise, but as a continuous act of rising, rebuilding, and redefining what is possible. Each story of resilience, each step toward empowerment, reflects a deeper transformation that extends beyond the individual to the wider community.
As part of the Community Support program at Holy Land Trust, which focuses on providing direct aid and community-based initiatives that respond to urgent needs, strengthen resilience, and promote dignity and stability, we continue to create safe and empowering spaces that support healthy lifestyles.
In this context, a Drum Fit activity for elderly women was held at the Elderly Club of the Family Development Charitable Society , in an atmosphere full of energy and positive engagement.
The training was led by coach Adham Abu Eid , in collaboration with coach May Jaber . The activity created a safe space that combined movement, emotional release, and physical wellbeing, supporting women in taking care of themselves amidst daily challenges.
At Holy Land Trust, we believe that physical and mental wellbeing are essential to community resilience , and that empowering women begins with creating spaces that nurture strength, balance, and self-connection.
Deepening Trust and Personal Expression
As part of the ongoing Generation to Generation project, implemented by Holy Land Trust in cooperation with Bethlehem University and funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, the sixth session was held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Holy Land Trust.

This session focused on strengthening personal expression and deepening trust among participants, creating a space where experiences could be shared with openness and respect. Particular attention was given to four students who actively engaged throughout the session, demonstrating commitment and openness to the process. Through guided activities and reflective exercises, they explored their personal journeys, expressing thoughts and emotions with growing confidence.
In parallel, another four participants engaged in the spiritual questionnaire process, a reflective tool designed to support deeper self-awareness and personal exploration. This process required a high level of trust and confidentiality, allowing participants to reflect on their inner experiences in a structured and meaningful way. Their participation highlighted the importance of providing diverse approaches that respond to individual needs within the group.
Together, these parallel activities contributed to reinforcing a sense of belonging and mutual understanding, supporting participants in building stronger connections and continuing their journey of growth and transformation.
As part of the Women of Dialogue project, funded by the European Union, implemented by Expertise France – The French Agency for Development Cooperation, and in partnership with ACT for Conflict Resolution , Jerusalem Center for Women , and Tomorrow’s Women , the seventh and eighth training sessions were conducted, continuing the journey of empowering women and strengthening their leadership roles within their communities.

Your support sustains spaces where individuals can rebuild their strength, raise their voices, and actively shape their futures.
It enables ongoing programs that foster resilience, encourage leadership, and support communities in moving forward with dignity and purpose.
Together, this support contributes to a lasting process of transformation — one that turns challenges into opportunities for growth and collective strength.
Transformation begins when individuals are given the space to speak, the support to act, and the belief that their voices matter.
